Judah's Blessing

This verse is taken from Moses' final blessing on Israel before he left them so that they may enter the Promised Land. This blessing is particularly for Judah (the tribe whose genealogy leads up to Christ), written in 1407 BC. I think God does more than just "follow through."

The pictures are inspired by Lamentations, the Nativity, the Crucifixion, and Christ's defeat of Satan (crushing the head who bit his heel).

Just to be clear, I am not claiming that Moses knew that all of these things would come to pass. In fact, he tended to seem more focused on the physical world (getting the Jews physically out of slavery and into the Promised Land). A deep understanding of the Law like his and his relationship with God made him the perfect leader of the Jews at his time. His blessing came about through Judah's physical struggles after Moses' death.

But, God also knew the bigger picture. He knew these things would come to pass. And, He alone was able to make Moses' blessing complete. It wasn't just on a physical/earthly scale, but on a divine scale. Not only did God save Judah from his physical adversaries (and the Law), contending for him in the lines of battle, He chose to stand against Satan and contend for Judah on a spiritual level as well, through the Gospel.
