RZIM 2013 Summer Institute (Wheaton, IL)

LIGHT IN THE DARKNESS

June 9 – 14, 2013

The key to effective and holistic apologetics is to properly understand the nature, life, and work of Jesus Christ over and against competing worldviews and popular distortions, Christian or otherwise. Although, many are familiar with the depiction of Christ as the light of the world in John’s first epistle, few have given serious thought to what John means when he equates Christ with light. There are numerous well-meaning but insufficient treatments of Jesus on the part of his believers, epitomized by the phrase “Jesus is the answer.” There is a real need for a deeper understanding of who Jesus is and why he is the “light of men.”

The goal of the RZIM Summer Institute 2013 is to foster a more robust understanding of the nature, life, and work of Jesus Christ, and to motivate and equip its participants to make comprehensible to others why Christ is the light of the world.

WHAT IS THE RZIM SUMMER INSTITUTE?

The RZIM Summer Institute is a concentrated week of study conducted by RZIM speakers and multiple adjunct lecturers. The week is a series of five sessions broken out by topic and emphasis, as well as daily corporate worship and devotions. The Summer Institute also provides a special elective track based on one’s interest of the following: church, university, marketplace, or arts. It aims to address the most pressing needs of the church in America today. It also provides an answer to the often stated request for an in-depth training programwithin the United States. Capacity is limited to approximately 150 attendees.

During the worship, devotions, fellowship time, we will share how the RZIM team gains critical insights into our culture and how they engage an increasingly secular world both on a popular and an academic level. But we also hope to invest personally in you.

One of the greatest rewards of the RZIM Summer Institute is the availability of the speakers. This is a place where one-on-one interaction is not only possible but also encouraged. These speakers are interested in your journey and the calling God has placed on your own life.

The RZIM Summer Institute is held at Wheaton College, located in Wheaton, Illinois. Situated 25 miles west of culturally rich Chicago.
